Hey Little Golfers,
Mastering the chip shot can be your game changer! Chipping is when you’re close to the green and need to make a little shot that gets the ball up in the air just enough to land on the green and roll toward the hole. It’s like giving the ball a gentle nudge to get it close to where you want it. Chipping can help you save a lot of strokes, and the best part? It’s really fun to practice!
Here are some easy tips to help you become a chipping superstar:

1. Relax Your Wrists
Think of your wrists like spaghetti—soft and relaxed! If you’re too tense, the club won’t swing smoothly. Relaxing lets the club fall naturally into the ball, which makes your shot feel easier.
2. Pivot with Your Body
When you swing, try moving your whole body, not just your hands. Pretend you’re rolling a ball to someone—your upper and lower body should work together to aim toward your target.
3. Avoid Lifting the Ball
It might feel like you need to scoop or lift the ball, but trust me, you don’t! Let the club do the work, and just focus on swinging smoothly. This will help the ball go straight without popping up too high.
4. Position Your Weight
Place most of your weight toward the target. It’s like leaning just a little bit forward. This helps the ball go in the right direction without too much bounce.
5. Open the Club Face
Try tilting the club face open just a tiny bit when you swing. It helps the club glide through the grass and makes your shot softer, so the ball doesn’t go too far.
You can also practice these fun drills:
• Link Your Chest, Hands, and Club
When you practice, imagine your chest, hands, and the club head are all working as one team. They should all swing together, which makes your chipping feel smooth and strong.
• Try Different Clubs
Practice with a few different clubs around the green. You’ll notice each one feels a little different. This can help you get a better feel for what works best for each type of chip.
Do you have a favorite chipping drill or a time you got the ball close to the hole? Share your story—I’d love to hear about how you mastering the chip shot! And remember, practice makes progress. So grab your club, head to the course, and have fun chipping!
